Welcome to Namiko Designs
Our passion for creating unique, handcrafted jewelry is deeply inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Our story
Hi, I'm Tyler! "We" are really just a one-woman show. I grew up in Coastal BC and the landscapes here are very special to me. I started making jewelry in 2012 when I was living on the Sunshine Coast and started selling my jewelry under the name 'Namiko Designs' shortly after. 'Namiko' is Japanese for 'Wave Child' and is an homage to both my Japanese heritage and my deep connection to the ocean. Each piece is handcrafted in my home studio on the unceded territories of the Snuneymuxw First Nation peoples. (Nanaimo, BC)
What is electroforming?
We use a unique process to create our jewelry. Electroforming, also referred to as electroplating, is a process that uses electricity deposit metal onto items. Over the course of several hours to days a thick layer of metal is 'built' onto an object, encasing it.
In this case, copper is used to plate natural elements such as plants and shells. This method allows us to preserve their original forms and intricate details.
We work with locally sourced recycled copper to further support our goals as a sustainable business.
Follow us on instagram to learn more about this process.
Our Commitment

By wearing our creations, you become a part of a movement that values ethical craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.
